Re: 84 craigslist score

yeah i know what you mean back in october i drove 100 miles to pick up a motor for my dad. this was a buy off of craigslist my dad an i had found. well the guy listed it as a 350 and something out of a vette. well as dad an i did more research it was a 305 sorta liek the one i have now. with centerbolt valvcovers i think it was even newer than the 30 i have. because the fuel pump place in the block was solid. so dad wound up getting a free 350 out of the deal from the same guy after calling. me i did not have such good luck i called the guy on the 305 motor in the 84 that i had bought. an he said he had no clue the difference. im not sure if he was telling the truth or not but he did work at a parts store which dont mean squat.

i just feel something is going to go wrong and i wont be able to get this transfered. and im afraid im going to loose money on this deal.

Re: 84 craigslist score

the block numbers can be a real pain,i've seen tinfoil pressed in to try and read
sometimes the gunk alone is the prob can't feel/see past it
i've stuck the pressure washer wand back there to clean it out
the 305/350 "i duno" happened a lot with cars
bought a olds two door i think about 83, told 350 ,doubted it but 100 dollar car
found 267,but the 350 cam still worked

Re: 84 craigslist score

man i dunno if i would regret it... that truck has tons of potential. I paid 4000 for mine and it had a 350 from like a 72 impala that had already been bored 40 over and leaked everywhere lol so i had to buy a new block and start from there.

Re: 84 craigslist score

well i sold this ride to a kids parents that were looking for a body. i sold it with no motor and tranny for 800$ cash. the kids eyes lit up like a christmas tree he was 16 and its going to be his first ride. i just didnt have the time to mess with it and wasnt happy with the truck in general. the hunt is on for something else now
