Re: 69 questions
Yes they can be changed out to a short bed by either cutting your current bed down or finding a short bed and Yes it will require you to cut your frame down to a Shortbed by taking 20 inches out of the rear of the frame I believe its 12 inches in front of the rear wheel well and 8 inches behind the rear wheel well there is an FAQ about it that gives great information in how to do it I'll try to find it for you.
I found the FAQ I was talking about here is a link to it http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=123624

Re: 69 questions
Custom Classic Trucks magazine did an article called "Get Shorty". Darryl Starbird's grandson (Dakota Wentz) was the author and he detailed the process of shortening the chassis....where to cut, how much to cut and how to put it back together.
The magazine is out of print, but the former editor (John Gilbert) is a member of this forum.

Re: 69 questions
if i dont happen to ever find a short bed in my price range. i might have to settle with a longbed. the body style of the 69 so it be 67-72
im not sure which style is my fav 67-72 or in the 80s when they strated the square headlights which was 81-87

Re: 69 questions
Technically you are correct you need a short bed from 67-72 but 67 does not have marker lights like they do in 68-72 so really 68-72 is what you should be looking for I recommend the parts board here usually a short bed for sale in there for reasonable prices and also I recommend using http://www.searchtempest.com/ to surf through craigslist much faster

Re: 69 questions
i find the long wides all the time for a good price more or less looking for a short wide. in my opinion and htoughs the short wide looks more sporty in my opinion. the longbeds more for work style trucks i ve seen some nice long beds dont get me wrong. and i knwo you can make them haul ass just as well as the short bed. ill keep my eye open though.
