stock wheels

I'm wondering if stock c-10 wheels will work with a disc brake conversion. It has four wheel drive ralleys on it now so my kit is for six lug. The wheels look good but I really like the way they look lower on factory wheels and caps. Oh yeah it's a 66 model. Thanks

Re: stock wheels

nope - been chasin my tail on this as well. Wilwood makes stuff for 14" wheels - advertised for 57 chev - but they are for 5 lug only (spoke to them at the LA Roadster show last week to clarify). Problem is the profile on the inner part of the stock wheels - they would rub the caliper. Stock early 70's disk brake wheels are an option - but ya gotta find em somewhere. I've had no luck thus far. Can also go custom oem type of wheel with some of the wheel folks (stockton, wheelsmith, etc etc). I'd keep looking for the early 70's db wheels while you wear your rallies for now - i.e. don't hold off on the db conversion, you'll eventually find some, but if you already have rallies on right now, might as well go for it - won't look any different than today.

Re: stock wheels

That's what I was thinking. I wasn't going to hold off once all my parts come in. Thanks for the reply.

Re: stock wheels

Some food for thought... you do have another option to use your factory caps. The '73-87 K10 pickups had the same 6-lug pattern on their factory steel wheels, and our factory caps will fit.

Here's a picture of those wheels on my truck.

Re: stock wheels

X2^^^
Any 73-87 4x4 steel wheel will work.
Also look at 73-91 4x4 Blazer and Burb steel wheels.

I just bought two at a swap meet for $20 total (with tires).
They are very cheap around here.
Most think they are just junk roller wheels.
But with the increased popularity of stock hubcaps on the 60-70 pickups (with 6-lug disc brakes),... I'm trying to buy them up.

Re: stock wheels

The 73-87 stock 4x4 wheels fit fine. Oddly enough, when my buddy disc braked his '69, his OE wheels would not fit, but the OE ones from my '64 did fit. His had riveted centers, mine were spot welded to the rim.
