brake adjusters

I have a 67 3/4 ton. The brakes are pulling to the left & I wanted to try and adjust the right side, but I didn't see any access holes. I can't seem to get the automatic adjusters to work. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: brake adjusters

have you taken the drum off and removed the adjuster and cleaned and lubricated it? that is the important first step

Access holes are on the front of the drum. Gotta pull offf the wheel.

Re: brake adjusters

You may have to remove the wheel AND the drum if you don't see the access hole after you remove the wheel. Look for an indentation that you can punch out with a chisel. If you're lucky one good whack will remove them. Otherwise you will probably have to remove the drum and beat them out like I had to.

I just did a complete brake job on my 68 with original brakes shoes for the same problem. Also had grabby brakes in the rear. They never had been changed (low mileage truck) so I replaced all of the brake cylinders, had all the drums turned ($30), new shoes and new rubber brake hoses.

Stops square now.

Re: brake adjusters

Thanks to all of you guys. I haven't worked on the brakes on my 67s yet. I remember that a couple of vehicles I had in the past had the access holes on the inside.
