Crazy, but it looks like the tip off of a cutting torch.

It's solid steel,1" long and 1/4" in diameter. The big end is about 5/16".
I don't know this engine very well and was hoping someone who does could help me figure this out. Thanks,Mike. |

Does it hold the dipstick tube in place?

That is just odd. I can't think of what that could be. Is it possible that it is not an engine component?

Re: 351 V/6-I found a loose part in the oilpan!
Thanks guys.
I am trying Jolley's site-Still waiting for answers. I ran it 2 weeks ago. I have it apart for painting.I took the oil pan off to fix some dents when I found the part. It may be part of one of the in head pcvs. Not sure though. Mike. |

Re: 351 V/6-I found a loose part in the oilpan!
O.K.,it is part of the in-head pcv.
With the help of a fellow named Lewis on Jolley's site,it's been determined that it fell apart at some time and was replaced with an"AC" replacement. Someone just never bothered to pull the pan and remove the old part! Same part used on all GMC,V/6's,so if you have one, check them once in a while.I was told they are prone to come apart. Thanks for all the suggestions and help! Mike. |
