I am looking at buying a 1989 K5 Blazer. It has had a new Target 350 installed 80,000 Km. ago. trany was rebuilt about 60,000 Km. ago. By himself and a Mechanic that works at GM. The rear-end has had the axels resized new seales,Brake work includes Drums shoes wheel cyl. It also has a new floor put in the back.(it bolts in supposaly ?)And a new Gate also. The guy works at GM and said that he get's really good prices on the parts. The truck needs a rocker Which will turn into both sides he has a new GM one included in the price. New Tank 120 liter. New fule lines and brake lines flex lines too. One new GM fender. New Converter. New E- Brake cables. Oky here is the list of what it needed. Tranny lines, front E-Brake cable, Exhaust. (included in the price of the truck New GM part's. and Paint.

The truck has 300,000 Km on it. But by what I have heard by the list of parts it sounds Like there should not be much else to worry about. I don't know much about transfer cases, or 4x4 stuff. How long will a transfer case last ? And what do they cost to have rebuilt ? Any advice would be great. I am going to look at it on friday.

Uhh, Sounds like a good deal if he isn't lying about any of this... I would look over the truck myself, and make the decision...

last time i had a t case rebuilt it was like $750 US and that was a couple years ago id check the body for bondo all ovr especially in the rear wheel wells other than that make sure that this guy can document everything he put in

well 89 should be a galvanized body. Rust should be a little less then average.

Yes the floor is nearly a bolt in. You do have to do a couple tack welds on the rear where the uprights meet the bed floor at the opening for the gate.

If it's on the up and up then that's a pretty good price since it has a fairly freash engine and tranny.

I think 89 still have NP208 case. Plentiful and should be able to get one cheap if it gives it up.

Personnaly I don't care for the 10 bolt rears but if you keep stock range tires it should be ok. If you go over 33 then count on trouble. Two options for a replacment, Semi floating 14bolt with 6 lugs if you want to keep the wheels or you can do the full monty and sling a 14ff under the back. If you do a 14ff then you can change out the spindles and hubs to get the current front to 8 lug or sling a D60 front under it and have a 1 ton K5.
