Ammeter wiring problem
I have a 69 c10 with factory gages that include the factory ammeter. Is there a way I can bypass the ammeter untill I can rewire the truck? I bought the truck from a junkyard for 600 bucks and all it needs to to be road worthy is a carb rebuild and brake shoes installed. The little 307 runs good but the carb is gunked up.
Thanks |

Re: Ammeter wiring problem
There is no ammeter.
The gauge marked battery has no effect on the operation of the electrical system, so just ignore it for as long as you like. |

Re: Ammeter wiring problem
Maybe I am confused, but mine has an ammeter.
On my 68, there is an inline fuse on the front corner on each side where the fender meets the rad. support (odd looking round black bubble looking thing - technical description). I think the one that worked the ammeter was on the driver's side, but i'm not positive. It took a short glass fuse (SFE4, I think). If you are trying to disable it (not sure why, it shouldn't effect anything), just pull the fuse. Mine was broken when I bought the truck (never moved the needle). Replaced the broken (shattered) fuse, and now it reads as it should.

Re: Ammeter wiring problem
Thanks guys for the feedback. The ammeter now does not work and the truck has an internal alternator installed by the previous owner.
Thanks again |
