Need Ideas

Ok crammed a 454 in the truck and had to put in a 3 core radiator which cut into where the battery was originally mounted I need ideas on relocating it.... Pictures would be appreciated.

Re: Need Ideas

No pic but I just put a plastic batt box in the front/pass corner of the bed. Cut a 1X2" hole in the side of the bed(double walled so the cables slip down inside and out the bottom), down low, and ran my cables(arc welding leads)through. With the box in you can't really see the cables or the hole. Cut 4 pieces of fuel hose to fit and slit them down one side, slip it over the exposed cut metal so the cables don't get screwed up. Not the prettiest but not the ugliest either lol.

if you put a proper 3 core rad in, you wouldn't have to alter anything

Re: Need Ideas

Yeah didn't have the cash for a proper one stole one out of the donor suburban. Way too big but didn't really have all the funds for the one I should have waited on. So long story short cutting was involved and now I need to move the battery.

Re: Need Ideas

I mounted my battery under the bed on my 53. Made a tray for it to sit in with a tie down (black bungee cord), bolted it the frame under the passenger side of the frame(outside of the frame) Oh, and the welding leads (JohnnyBoy350) is exactly is what i did too. Worked great and cleaned up the engine compartment pretty nice too. I had no visible wires under the hood after boxing up the frame and relocating the fuse block and wiring harness.

Re: Need Ideas

Do you have enough room to either move the battery over to the right or maybe turn it 90*. If not I would relocate it to either in the bed or under the bed on the passenger side.

Re: Need Ideas

I'll take a pic of what i got and give you an idea of what I'm looking at. Also thanks for the other ideas I like the under the bed thing, except I have no bed to speak of yet so don't know how safe that will keep my investment. Sorry but there's been a rash of theft in the area so trying to figure out how to keep from lugging in my battery and motor every night.

Re: Need Ideas

Drop down box behind the bed.
You can see it in the pic below.

I also went with the Champion 3 row radiator. Fit nice!
