Re: 1987 chevy scottsdale 4x4 first project
Its been a while since i posted guys but i have gotten alot of progess. i put the bed back on. decided to pull the motor to clean up and paint and fix some leaks and replace some parts. pulled the tranny to fix some major leaks and replace the fluid and filter. Going to paint the exhaust manifolds black. the transmission and block silver and the other accessories black had to use the tractor to get that engine lift out

Re: 1987 chevy scottsdale 4x4 first project
The transmission is painted. took longer than expected with 30 years of caked grease on it. next is to paint the engine block. Just need to get that power steering pulley off, so i need to rent a puller. great time to check my timing chain for slack!

Re: 1987 chevy scottsdale 4x4 first project
engine is almost done i just need to install the intake manifold and waterpump gaskets and im good to go. the bed is back on, fuel tank is installed for good, i took of the serpentine system off and switched to the v belt accesories. now i can use my old SI alternator so i dont have to change any of the wiring should have this thing running and driving in less than a month!

Re: 1987 chevy scottsdale 4x4 first project
Looks good! What size tank is that? I've been debating a blazer tank swap to get rid of my second transfer pump, and go with a quieter in-tank pump while I'm at it... I've been debating how to do the fuel fill, since I run a tonneau cover all winter, and use the bed a lot in the summer. I'd like to avoid the sheet metal work involved with another filler behind the rear wheel but I think it is necessary for my application.

Re: 1987 chevy scottsdale 4x4 first project
thanks chris.
its a 33 gallon suburban tank. i originally made a fuel filler that reached all the way to the rh stock filler location. but i ditched that because i was worried it would take longer to fill, you could go with the filler in one of the tail lamps theres a thread on here about it. if you have any more questions about the swap ill be glad to help ya!
