Top Worth Fixing?

I'm getting a '70 K5, but unfortunately it doesn't have a top. A local salvage yard has this one that seems to be in decent shape with the exception of the cracks. Do you guys think it's worth buying and fixing (I have no idea how much fiberglass repair costs) or should I just grab the hatch off of it and make a road trip for a top?

That I could see, there were three places that need to be fixed (circled in red). The one on top is about 10 inches long, give or take.

Also, any idea what the back seat in the 3rd pic is out of?

Re: Top Worth Fixing?

Looks like a double wall, less desireable IMO, grab the hatch and all associated parts and run!

His Blazer might need a double wall. I would hold off on that top, looks like a lot of work and looks twisted. Grab the hatch or at least the hatch hardware.

Re: Top Worth Fixing?

grab the hatch, tailgate weather stripping, the door striker plates (pic #3, just below top of bed) and matching part on the door, door caps if present, and fuel filler Cover and you should be able to sell them to help off-set and cost of a top.

Re: Top Worth Fixing?

I'd grab the side glass too...most of the ones I see for sale that are in decent condition don't have them.

Re: Top Worth Fixing?

Hint: A scrap yard will generally sell you the entire part for less than the total of the pieces. It sucks to find this out after spending your time disassembling the pieces.
