zero rust - anyone use this?

I would like to do some rust coating on the under side of the cab and fenders and such and saw this zero rust stuff. I have used POR-15 on the frame and it seems to work pretty well, but wondered if there is anything better. Anyone have something they really like?

Re: zero rust - anyone use this?

several of the guys on the Stovebolt page who have done frame off restorations swear by it.

Here are some reviews of the product:

Restoration Rust Control - The Real World

Zero Rust review - review by owner/founder/editor of stovebolt page

The trick is finding it to buy in person, in my experience.

Re: zero rust - anyone use this?

I’ve been using Zero Rust for about 10 years and it’s the reason I quit using POR-15. It doesn’t get brittle and chip, and seems to last forever. Chassis parts I’ve painted with POR tend to develop small rust blisters once they get whacked with enough road debris. Zero Rust does not. The only feature I prefer about POR is it being shiny gloss black, that stuff really shines, while Zero Rust is somewhat dull by comparison.

Another benefit of Zero Rust is it does not contain Isocyanates, so it’s much safer to use, especially if sprayed.

This is the forum that convinced me to make the switch. They use to have a field test showing engine mounts on a boat painted with both products, demonstrating how much better the Zero Rust held up. Unfortunately I can no longer find the link.

Re: zero rust - anyone use this?

Thanks guys. The problem I have with POR 15 is storage, seems like if you don't use it all the next time you open it has a hard crust on top. I have been told to get some empty paint cans and pour the extra into a new clean can to help that. I think I will try the zero rust.
