Drag link question

Ok its been about 20 years when I last did this. I want to replace the drag link on my stock 72 Blazer 4x4 because it has some play. I like Moog product but cant find them at any of my part stores. The only place I could find any drag link is Napa and its 2 brands I never heard of. I dont know if the brand LMC offers is any good. The one on my blazer is a one piece link with No adjusting sleeve??? Never seen that before. Does anyone know where is a good place to buy this from or any place I can get a Moog parts for this truck? Also which piece goes to the steering box and which to the d/s knuckle? I believe the lengths of the ends are different. I cant tell on mine because its that one pice drag link I have never seen before.

I forget which one goes where, but the Napa premium ones I just bought and installed were good quality and stamped USA. the parts store can tell you which one goes where. one is 6 inches and change and the other 8 and change.

If someone doesn't beat me to it and answer which one goes where, I'll go look at mine and get back to you.

On mine the shorter one is to the front and the longer one is to the rear.

Yeah thats what I thought. I was not sure how to center the steering wheel but I figured it out. Take the pitman arm loose at the steering box.

You can center the wheel by turning the adjusting sleeve on the drag link. It's probably easier than removing the pitman arm.

I may not change the drag link because it had very little play in it and now that Im driving it she does stay straight so I may keep the original and just center the wheel.

Easy way. Just drive it. Mark the 12 o'clock on your steering wheel when you are going straight. Set your mark at 12 o'clock, pull your wheel, and put it back on straight. Makes no difference how your wheel is turned when you put it on. The factory will just have a chisile mark to line up. You can do the same.

Thank you so much! I thought the wheel was indexed and only went on one way. I went out and was able to do it that way in about 7 minutes and I didnt even get dirty or break a sweat in the 92 degree temp. Thanks again!

Not to ruin anyone's fun, but you should probably put it up on jacks and check your turns to stop each direction and make sure you are actually centered in the box when the wheels are straight (drag link adjustment). Then do the steering wheel pull and line up.

Ahh I did read that, but was remembering that he was going to buy the newer type at the beggining of this thread.

Still he should try to center the box to the tires, could be done the same way but drop the pitman arm from the box to make the adjustment instead of the draglink.

Where's that dead horse icon anyway.....
