LMC kickpanels or are there other options?
I've started ordering stereo parts today and I'm trying to come up with a speaker solution in the front that won't take cutting metal. I have the bolts to hang an oem-style speaker if I wanted, but I've always thought that looked a bit goofy. Is there anything else besides the LMC kickpanels that I should know about?
I've never done fiberglass before. Is it easy? Last edited by craigger007; 07-30-2011 at 02:56 PM. |

I am going to build some fiberglass kickpanels for a 6 1/2" and a tweeter and then hide a sub in a center console.

If you search there are 2 threads on here that give step by step instructions for how to do fiberglass kick panels. It doesn't look too hard.

Here's a good one on this board http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=141614, and the rest of the web is also good since it's all the same concept. I've never worked with fiberglass before either, but I finally got components for my blazer and hope to attempt this in the near future.

Thanx for that link. Searching on this forum is requires a lot of wading through other stuff at times it seems. I think temporarily I will go with the kickpanels from LMC just so I can have something to listen to. Learning this fiberglass stuff seems like a good winter project in the garage.

I get the thought, however, I personally don't care for LMC's kicks. Even though I've never heard them personally, the inferior speaker and plastic molding to me is a waste of money. I like a somewhat premium sound system in my rides though, so this area for me is where I tend to spend more money.

Re: LMC kickpanels or are there other options?
If guys give me roughly a month - month and half, overtime at work should be coming to an end. And I can dedicate time to building a few sets to see how they go. I've built fiberglass panels before back in my IASCA days, so I have a game plan down.

Re: LMC kickpanels or are there other options?
I'm not sure at this point. I know I have to order so MDF rings which are roughly $25 a pair and some other materials. I'm think roughly $250-$300 a pair without speakers in primer. I have a friend that paints and can match the color of your truck for additional cost
