and the truck came back
OK here is the deal I bought this 74 C10 stepside about 9 years ago. I had a fresh Goodwrench 350 with a TH350 and 3.73's. It ran and drove OK, but needed help. The body is rust free but was not cherry.
I picked her up for the right price. I did a 700R4 conversion and when the 12 bolt gave up the ghost I had another built with 3.42 eaton posi. Worked on the engine a bit, the PO had been a hack to the carburation and wiring. Redid the interior on the cheap, replaced the fenders, hood, and doors (power windows with the doors). She ran sweet, and drove sweeter after the drop and suspension rebuild. Well my father needed a vehicle and one day at the swapmeet I meet a new girl.......a 1967 C10 SWB step, converted to discs, 350, TH350, and a 3.07 5 lug rear axle. So the 74 was sold to my father, 8 months later and it is nothing but problems. The stereo was stolen, windshield broken, and the carb failed (new Q-jet). The final straw, the engine failed (major water in the oil pan....like a gallon!). To make things right I am buying the 74 C10 back......I will take her in a treat her right making her well ....actually a little better. Stay tuned. Here she is before the new sheet metal, so she looks better than this picture.

Re: and the truck came back
Took the engine down to get it out of the truck yesterday. Six of the eight plugs are wet, and cylinder #5 gushed water out when the plug came out. There was at least a gallon and a half of water in the oil pan and what came out of the radiator was brown burned anti-freeze. I have been working on cars for over 25 years, and that was the ugliest nastiest coolant and smelled burned (that overheated coolant smell). My father must have driven that truck overheating for miles and miles to get it that hot, when I sold it to him in Oct 2010 the coolant wasn't new but it wasn't burned either. Man did he kill it!

Torrance, just south of LAX. He will not be driving any of my vehicles ever again, nor will I be selling him any vehicles.
