Re: Gas tank trouble
detergent and some lenghts of smaller chain sloshed around in the tank. also have friends that have put in the detergent and a lot of marbles and left it in the box of the truck as they drove it around for the week. Could also take it to the local rad shop for a cleaning. Just watch the gas fumes!

Re: Gas tank trouble
A gallon or two of orange juice and a few short lengths of chain sloshed around a few times a day for a couple days (alternating sides) will remove ALOT of the sludge and rust...not as aggressive as the muriatic acid.

Re: Gas tank trouble
murtic acid will make more flash rust than you will know what to do with.and quick.
I did that once and ended up with more rust than I started with. |

Re: Gas tank trouble
It's well worth what little money that a radiator shop charges to boil it out and flush it out.
You can get the loose crud out at the car wash by taking the sending unit out and spending a hand full of quarters to flush the tank out and then shine a light in it and see what you have going. |
