heater box control valve
Hey all,
Anyone know if someone is making these little plastic end pieces in metal? This is the second time mine has broke and I only found out through summer cleaning of the system.

Re: heater box control valve
Classic Parts has them. Air recirculating valve link rod part. $1.95, so you might as well get several like I did - shipping is more than the part cost.

Re: heater box control valve
Thanks. I think I'm going to fabricate one, either out of a chunk of aluminum or flast 18 guage steel. I shoudl have pics up by end of the week. I don't want to have to fix this again.

Re: heater box control valve
Here's my fabricated replacement. Made out of scrap 18g galvanized steel. Took a 2" x 1.5" square (sort of) and and marked where old plastic piece went.
bent over a tab for the plunger arm to attach to and mimick the old plastic tab. drilled a 1/8 hole. lined up on the vent door, marked with pencil two holes and drilled 2 1/8 holes. Used sheet metal screws (truss heads) (pancakes) about a 1/2" long. Use a small cotter pin to replace the nail chev used. Might write how to on the blog about it for those who want more detail. Workes great. Just make sure you hold the door closed by the rod above the box to make sure the plate isn't too close to the left and prevent the door from closing (my first attempt).

Re: heater box control valve
But they're plastic right? The plastic ones keep breaking on mine.
