72 power steering

All my research so far tells me that in order to get power steering in my 72 K2500 all I have to do is install a power drive motor from a 72 and then hook up a pump and lines.

From my experience so far, this seems just to simple.........there must be a hitch??

Anyone with experience doing this out there??

I've never done the 4x4 stuff.
Should be all bolt on.
Do you have the parts yet?

Just so the answer is out there.........I went to a local junk yard and removed the power steering drive motor from a 1984 suburban 4X4, price $50.00

I wasn't sure it would fit as the old manual steering box only had 3 bolts holding it on the frame and the 84 had 4.

It just bolted right up and there was even an extra hole already in the frame.....so obviously all the power steering boxes of that era had 4........even the lines from the 1990 pump screwed right in with no problems.
All I had to do was remove a small amount of inside fender to get to the pump connections.

I couldn't believe my luck as this little rebuild has sure had some challenges.

Anyway there ya go......easy peasy........Oh yeah, before you do the install make sure the steering wheel is centered and also that the drive motor is centered as well. I also found it very helpfull to keep all the nuts and bolts from the donar vehicle too
