Help with windshield wiper switch

This is in my 1957 truck. It appears that the windshield wiper motor has been replaced at some point in time.

This switch, although connected, does nothing...just turns right continuously and left...the same. It does not "click" into a postion. The wipers do not run.

I am thinking that I need a new switch, but am having trouble identifying, since there is NO part identification on this switch.

The back side has four terminals, marked "B", "P", "H" and "L".

The four wires connected to these terminals respectively are RED, GREEN, WHITE and YELLOW.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help with windshield wiper switch

My 59 has a factory electric motor and switch. The switch is a cable to the motor, all electrical functions happen at the motor except for a hot wire from the fuse panel. Yours must be from another application.

That looks like a multi speed switch. Since it looks like a three speed switch it might be off a car.

Check "Re: 51' 3100 build in PA New to Site" in the Projects and Builds section. On the last page there's a pic of a wiper setup that looks like it might match yours. The company name is shown in the post.

Re: Help with windshield wiper switch

looks like a newport engineering wiper switch. there should be a larger black sticker on the motor bracket.go to newportwipers.com. the switch is $29.00 and is called a washer pump switch, but it works the pump, high and low speed. they also have an intermitten set up you can upgrage to. the draw back to the intermitten is its $76.00 and is pretty bulky, but works very good.
