Off the shelf colors that work

Some great interior work on this board...planning to use rattle cans to freshen up the interior of my 61'. I have the original color names of the silver and the charcoal colors for a base cab - but what will work off the shelf?

What have you used in Krylon, Rustolem and/or Dupli-color brands?
Which colors are close enough to the original colors?

Thanks all and happy Labor Day (especially if you get to work on your truck!) gpk1961

gpk1961 I used Krylon Brushed Metallic Satin and it comes in five different shades so you can pick the shade you want. I picked Champagne Nouveau plus you can get it at wally world....Vernski

Silver and charcoal? My guess is you have a GMC, right? ...Just clarifying.
I think Vernski is referring to the Chevy fawn.

Re: Off the shelf colors that work

More infot on the stuff Vernski discused above. Back In 2010 my search lead me to some Krylon paint that is real close. Color is Champagne Nouveau and it is their "Brushed Metallic Satin". Back then it was less than $3 per can at Wally world. http://krylon.com/products/brushed_metallic/

It is not an exact match and has a bit more gold than the factory color, but since I did an entire repaint it worked great!

Here is what I started with.... everything, and I mean everything, was painted flat black....

My 65 chevy is an original truck and it has silver interior.I much prefer the Fawn over the silver though.

Re: Off the shelf colors that work

Learning something new here. In my mind, Chevy was always fawn. I don't know GMC's too well, but I have seen a few with the silver/gray combo.
Anybody else have an ORIGINAL Chevy interior in silver? If so, what year? Pics please!

I thought the same thing OEM until I bought this truck, it is an original paint never been restored truck. I will have to look and see if there is anything on the build sheet about different interior color.

Re: Off the shelf colors that work

I guess everyone missed the point I made in post #2 it comes in five different shades from silver, pewter, brass, bronze, gold in the brushed metallic satin of course no charcoal. But it may be possible to find something that shade at wally world....Vernski
My 65 GMC was in between gold and silver kinda 40/60.

Re: Off the shelf colors that work

I used Caramel Latte because I liked the look better than the Champagne Nouveau. It matched my seats better as well (glove box door).

But my '66 was Fawn.

Re: Off the shelf colors that work

has anyone used the duplicolor Fawn in a rattle can? I thought about using it in mine, but didn't know how close the color was.

corvettejim1968 That literature answers years of questioning for me. May I inquire where you referenced this information from? My 1963 Chevrolet Data Book has no information pertaining to alternative interior colors.

Lucite is a Dupont paint line is it not?

Thanks! 2008 Cadillac DTS, center is from a 2010 F150 F@rd.

<edit> The pictures make the center seat color look further off than it is in person.
