I have a 70 chevy with less than 55K, 3sp, 250. I have messed with the column shifter over and over. I reset to specs like that described on here. I have worked on the 3 speed columns before as well so this isn't my first one. It appears in the column the part that moves in between the 2shift forks(under the hood) is damaged thus making the throws from 1st to 2nd where you push up to 2nd impossible. It's always jumped out of 1st like it would not drop down like it should. I drove it home the other day in 2nd no matter where I put the shifter it was stuck there. Its come to the point I don't drive this truck because everytime I take it out I battle this and it takes the pleasure from driving it. Before this I hadn't drove in 2mos.

Being this is a low mileage truck I don't want to jump on the 350/350 bandwagon however not keen on spending $300+ on a shifter either.

what have you guys used? I want it to clear the bench seat as well and this being a 6cy truck its in the back position.

Hey Dave Are you sure its the shifter. Not the same thing but I have a 3 speed from a 69 nova in my 62 panel truck, the panel is heavier and it pulls nice, with good syncro mesh shifts. The shifter came with original floor shifter. May not be an option but there are other possibilities. You can post a WTB AD see what pops up. Good Luck. Ed
