How long does it take you guys to replace both head gaskets? Not counting machining. Thanks, Bradley

Re: Head gasket replacemnt time?

It really depends on how much crap is bolted to the engine. If you have a TBI engine with a serpentine belt and no A/C, it's nothing. If it's a totally stock 305 with V-belts and an M4ME Quadrajet, it's HELL.

Re: Head gasket replacemnt time?

mine was a 84 chev with 74 350 police interceptor, just alternator and power steering pump, which the bracket was bent on, so that gave me a little hassle, and how easy your manifold bolts come out is a factor too

Re: Head gasket replacemnt time?

ive done the job with a buddy of mine over the course of a day.. we replaced heads and the gasket on his Oldsmobile custom cruiser wagon. its still a GM 8 cylinder with a/c etc.. his was like a 79 80 model year so except for the fact that the nose on a truck is higher and therefore you need something to stand on, but there is more room in the truck engine bay. If you do everything methodically its not difficult
