What IF?
If I were to sell my truck, how much do you all think I could get for it? I'm not trying to sell it here, just don't know what I should ask for it. If the admins feel I'm trying to sell it here, please know I'm not.....but if you feel it violates policy, I'll understand if it gets pulled.
Mind you, the A/C is working, the interior needs work, and it's missing the bed floor. The engine and transmission run good, too. Unfortunately, times are getting rough and I'm considering it. Any thoughts? No low balling guys...really! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What IF?
You really sure about getting rid of it? That thing is clean man, just like mine. Of course mine is lifted with smaller rims and yours is dropped with 20(?)s. I would need to see the interior to give you a real price. Also, what is missing from the bed? I take its wood, but what is missing? The wood and metal to hold the wood in or just the wood? Are all the lights working? I also see you have no badges, that drops the price a bit for some people. Any rust under? What motor is in it as far as the model AND year goes? The motor is what will make up most of the selling price. You can replace and repaint body parts pretty easily but replacing a motor is expensive as crap so if it is not in good condition, you wont get much even if your truck looks clean.

It's dropped 5-7 with 20's. The wood and metal strips holding the wood (length wise) are missing, since I was planning on just putting a flat diamond plate floor. All lights work. There are two spot on the floor board which need to be repaired. It has a straight 6 and it's an 80 Silverado. I'll try to add more pics, but they're the same ones from my project build. Instead simply put something like "offer" so if anyone is willing to buy it, they will list their own price. Also, don't go to the car show to look at the cars, stick by your truck as much as you can. If someone offers too low, simply ask them if they are willing to go higher. If they wont go above $3,000usd I'd personally not sell it. Just remember you most likely wont find a truck like yours in the future since most current buyers for step sides will be high school kids who will possibly destroy it over time. If those kids keep buying them up, there wont be any left in good condition later on in time... You get what I'm saying? Of course even then these trucks are getting old without being beat up my younger guys. I dunno Bud, it's a hard choice I know. But if you can't survive without selling this beauty, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? |

Hey bro, I live in Greenspoint and I know what you mean about rough times. Personaly I won't sell it if I were you, you don't get what you invest in at back. You know Houston is full of nice trucks qndo lowballers. They never pay up, your truck looks real nice, but like they said, just the bed strips is a grip, not to mention swapping out that six to drop at least a sbc. I am almost sure you won't even get 3g's for it, although I think it is worth it. But you can find almost done projects on craigslist with ls swaps for 4k or 5k. That truck looks like it took you a while to get like that, just put it up and finish it later when the money is right.

Re: What IF?
A truck with no bed is going to be a real hard sale. And even though I personally like them, a smooth running 6-cylinder is not much of a plus when most buyers want a V8. You're really going to lose your ass on the money you've invested (especially the wheels and tires, which look quite new but don't add much monetary value). I doubt you'll get more for your truck (and likely, less) than you would for a completely stock truck of comparable year and condition. Around $4K is probably a good ballpark figure. Maybe less since you're in Texas and trucks like these are plentiful. Also keep in mind that while times are tough for you, it's a recession for most everyone. Not too many people buying "toys" these days. Especially not 30 year old full size trucks.
