New Stereo In The Blazer
I wanted a new stereo for the blazer and didnt want to cut up my dash. So I bought a Sony with the Tune Tray for my ipod and removed my old radio and cd changer. Hopefully everybody likes what i came up with for location. I think it worked out great.

Re: New Stereo In The Blazer
I did the same thing with mine except I left the original radio in its place and used a heater delete plate to cover the new radio. I am not running heat or ac in mine

Re: New Stereo In The Blazer
I gotta have the heat and AC working on mine, daily driver. I don't even want to think about the slack I would catch from the family if they weren't comfortable
So I had no choice but to stick our new CD/Ipod player in the location it was intended. I figure what little I had to cut the dash I could easily weld right back in if need be. Considering all the welding I've seen on here repairing rusty trucks a simple dash repair should be cake for you guys |

I put a CD head unit and a 6 disc changer inside the console. The original owner had the dash cut for an AM/8track. I kept it in the dash and people don't even suspect the stereo in the console.

I couldn't use any of that if it were in the console. My son likes to work the remote control from the back seat and flip around songs |

Re: New Stereo In The Blazer
I roll topless year round, so no heat/ac for me. Fortunately its not my daily driver so my wife and kids love it whenever we go anywhere.

Re: New Stereo In The Blazer
Can you tell us the brand and model #? That looks like what I'm looking for for mine. It looks good by the way. Are you planning on leaving the delete plate black, or paint it to match the rest?

Re: New Stereo In The Blazer
This is what I went with so i wouldn't have to cut the dash.
It looks low-key, so i dont think anyone will be looking to climb in and rip it out of the dash, especially since it has old fashioned knobs, and we know that aint cool to younger kids. The fit is great, and the looks blend in pretty well, not like some hack job with a face plate after cutting the dash. The sound is OK, but it is clearly not the Kenwood i am used to in my other car. As long as it is clear when playing loud with no top, I am happy. it has the USB input for MP3 files on flashdrive that sits in the glove box, and a wireless remote, that is RF instead of infrared so it works in direct sunlight. |

IF you want my opinion, I'd say leave the delete plate black. It kinda breaks up the dash a little more. I think with it silver too, it'll look a little to plain.
