exc. positraction??
i have a 1966 - c15 series truck since mines a long bed ,but the stamping on the axle tube says "HA" which on this page says it should be a c14 series(shortbed)? is the rearend maybe out of a shortbed? and what does (exc. positraction) mean??what does the "EXC." part stand for? and do i have posi???

I think it means HA is 3.73 gears (except positraction) so it's the non-posi.
The 3.73 Posi would be the HF.

I read it as HC and HG for the posi units ??
The only difference I could fathom between long and short box rears would be at the trailing arm mounts,where the pinion angle would be set differently.?? As for IDing the posi. With wheels off the ground,rotate one wheel,if the other follows suit(same direction) it's a posi. if it rotates the opposite direction it's a limited slip T

If you spin one rear wheel by hand, and the other one spins the same direction, you have a posi (or something seriously wrong).
