Pump Ring gear Tabs Position?
Are the Tabs on the pump gear supposed to be towards the rear or up front. I think they(2) are supposed to be towards the rear. I had a guy rebuild my trans and have had to take it back to him twice. I took the pump assembly apart the 3rd time it wouldn't work and the ring gear tabs are towards the front(Close to the forward pump seal). TH350-c Trans , 305 v8, 986 chevy c-10 Thanks much in advance

The tangs go toward the transmission side, not the engine side.
In the photo below, you can see that only half of the pump is installed in the case, with the tangs correctly positioned toward the transmission side:
