remember that rare rear cab trim you were looking for?.....

Well, KEEP looking! $1200. Holy Crap. I'd rather buy another truck (just me). BUT, if this is the ONE piece someone is lookin for to finish off that perfect resto, well, here ya go. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1960-...item3cbc6d6111

Ok, ok - actually I would LOVE to have it all to myself! Just can't afford it. It sure is nice though.

EDIT: JUST to be fair - just noted that's just the "buy it now" price - owner of course may sell it for less.

CTC Auto Ranch in Texas had a setup like that. $ 300.00 just for the rear moldings.

Vernski, you could've invented the Frisbee! I agree - you'd THINK they'd make these things. Or maybe MR. LMC himself owns all of them and doesn't want the price to be driven down by Repops....

Re: remember that rare rear cab trim you were looking for?.....

My understanding and the looks of this one as well is that the side pieces are different than normal by being flat ended and having holes in them. I want one of those, but I am thinking of getting a piece of stainless or aluminum the same width, cutting it to length and polishing it. The trick would be getting something with rounded edges or machining it that way. I was looking at using some of the bed side trim for that piece, but I seem to recall that neither the lower or upper piece was close enough in width. MAR-K needs to start making these.

Re: remember that rare rear cab trim you were looking for?.....

chief brings up a good point - this was clearly not part of the normal custom cab trim - my understanding was it was a GMC piece only, and that while folks love to put em on 2-tone chevs, they never actually came on them. Anyone know? Sure should have come on them!

if you look at the pics it has the chevy sails and gmc never had sails they had a different trim that stopped shortly after the door and was on the door itself

Re: remember that rare rear cab trim you were looking for?.....

Jocko and Cheif. I don't know if its just gmc or chevy but I pulled my set off a 60 chevy in org paint from a members truck. I believe I read somewhere if the faqs that they stoped adding it in 61 because they were getting banged up.
Having a closer look at the pics it seems like this might be a homemade piece. The ends are different then mine and it's it 2 pieces.

LOL.... wow I have one of those trim pcs. on my 63. no wonder a ol guy offered to buy the pc. of trim. Mine is a one piece. Now I think that piece is worth more than my truck. Maybe I will sell it seperately.

Re: remember that rare rear cab trim you were looking for?.....

60-61 chevys were 1 piece across the back that slipped into custom sail panel mouldings. They were different from the normal sail panel mouldings. 60-61 GMCs have a 2 piece moulding that goes across the back. I have sold a few sets of both but not for that $$$.
