Clutch pressure plate for a 55 2nd 235/T5 ???
I am in the process of installing a T5 in my 55 2nd with the original 235. I am trying to figure out what to use for a pressure plate as the original is not reusable. What will bolt to the stock flywheel 3705410 which has 6 mounting holes for the pressure plate? I am using a spacer and stock S10 disc. I have searched the T5 threads with no luck.

I don't know why a stock pressure plate for the engine/bell housing setup that you have won't work.
With the Flathead Ford V8/T-5 swap they use the Ford pressure plate and usually an Astro Van clutch disk (11 inch for an 88 V6 Astro van will work). But if you want the smaller disk that should work too. The clutch disk thickness is close enough to the same on almost all of the car/light truck disks. |

Re: Clutch pressure plate for a 55 2nd 235/T5 ???
When I put a 92 V8 Camaro T5 in my Nova I used the stock 327 11 inch bellhousing, flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing. The only thing from the Camaro that I used was the clutch disc. The Camaro disc is a 10.5 inch which leaves a quarter inch around the out side but I haven't had any problems with this setup.
I put a 60 235 in my GMC Suburban and used the clutch stuff that was on that engine and it looked to me like it was the same as I remember the pressure plate looking in my Nova. I didn't compare the two but maybe if you could find a newer one in a bone yard that is the same size I would be willing to bet that it might just bolt right on.
