Slamming the hood
I really have to slam my hood hard in order to get it to latch. Its always been that way and its starting to make me cringe. Is this normal? If not, whats the easy fix (crossing fingers)?

Re: Slamming the hood
lube everything would be the first step. Even if it all seems OK when you open the hood. Get alll the pivot points on the hinges, then anything that moves on the latch.
If it still acts like this, then I would check for general fitment of the hood to the body. If it looks crooked, then you can try getting it lined up better. If it looks straight, then try adjusting the latch assembly. |

Re: Slamming the hood
More info please... are the hinges tight and you have to push hard or do you have to slam it to get it to latch? If it's the latter, things are out of adjustment.

Re: Slamming the hood
Sounds to me like your hood bumpers are set too high OR you need to adjust the big pin on the hood. (part that goes into the catch) Just loosen the nut, then unscrew a few threads.
If the front of your hood sits good in relation to the tops of the fenders, leave the hood bumpers alone and adjust the pin. If hood sits too high, lower those bumpers. (pull off the rubber part, loosen nut and screw them in a bit, then test) Just keep making small adjustments until hood works good.
