Is This a Bad Idea?
I'm getting close to finishing up the engine install on my 85 Diesel Burb...the old eninge started burning oil almost as fast as it burnt fuel. Anyways, I've read that modifying the air filter assembly so it flows more air (along with a good exhaust) really wakes up the engine. I can't mess around with the exhaust so I figured I would see what I could do with the air filter.
I have a few ideas kicking around for when I go to build a snorkel for it, but right now I just don't have the time. Then I got to thinking about just running an open element air fliter...I see them all the time on gas engines...and I'm not going to do any serious 4x4ing right now. So is it a bad idea to run an open element air filter on my 6.2L diesel? Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
