lifted spindles
We plan on using the front brakes from a 77 c-10 on the front of our 69 gmc. Does anyone know of a manufacter of 3" lifted spindles?
Our goal is 3" front lift, 2.5" rear 31x10.5x15" rims, 5 lug all around and more than likely a tbi 305 w700r4. Any help appreiciated. warrens69gmc |

I've been looking but no one is doing them. The best you can do is an upper a-arm that will get you the 3" but you will be using 73 and up bushing setup. AIM has them.

I've been told (but have not checked it out yet) that if you get a lower control arm from a 3/4 ton C20 you can then use a 3" lifted spindle from an 88-98 1/2 ton chevy, which will also give you a 6 lug disk up front. I've never bought from AIM but heres the link to the spindles.http://www.truckn-store.com/product....t.asp&ID=22748

Whoops - Just read my reply and need to clarify it a bit. The lower "A" arm should be from a 67-72 3/4 ton truck. Thats becuase the lower ball joint on the 88-98 1/2 ton is the same as the 67-72 3/4 ton.

Hey stepn67 you mentioned 6 lug disk brakes?!?!?!? What year is a good swap to put in a 67 1/2 ton? I want to upgrade when I rebuild my truck. (I got it in tucson about 10 yrs ago)
warren, if you put 3/4 ton coil springs in you will easily have the clearance for 31-1050 tires, and it will lift your truck about 2 inches. i have a heavy-half ton and when i broke a front spring they were the closes thing i could find but after i replaced the front springs i had to replace the rear also because the front was noe higher then the back.

Are you sure you didn't use BB springs. I just did a new set of 3/4 ton spring in my 1/2 and got no lift out of it. The BB springs will get you almost 2"

As far as I know they were 3/4 ton, this was 8 yrs ago though. Before the spring replacement when parked next to my friends 69 1/2 ton, both with 31 tires, mine sat 2 inches lower than his. that was level not leaning or sagging. Maybe it had something with mine being what was called a "heavy-half" ton CST (custom sport truck) and his was a plain jane.

lifted in tucson
My buddy lifted his c10 using 1ton spring all around. He is trying to get me to do the same-only mine has rear leafs. I was thinking that would be an easy way-I have to make things harder than they have to be-lol ''.
I need to find 1 ton (52")leafs for the GMC. I needs new leafs anyway. That waould get me 2 inches up front.1 1/2" rear and a 2-3" body lift is what would be perfect. warrens69GMC |
