tierod question (working on it now)
just got the disc brake kit for my 66 off of brothers and im to the point where i need to put the new tie rod ends on. It came with the center piece also but on the old one the center piece is tightened on the tie rod ends where as the new ones are loose and don't really tighten. Should i just use the new ends and put them in the old center pieces?[IMG][/IMG]

Re: tierod question (working on it now)
if i had to guess i would say to just use the new pieces you recieved. with the new ones, one has right hand thread, and the other has left hand thread, that way when you get an alignemt, all that has to be adjusted is that center piece. turn it one way, and they will shorten. turn it the other, and they will lengthen. it doesnt appear that there would be a chance of them shortening or lengthening on there own through vibration or anything like that.

Re: tierod question (working on it now)
The original connector tightened with clamps over the split ends of the sleeve. The new connector should be tightened with jamb nuts on each end of the sleeve which are missing in the photo. The ends of the new connector aren't split like the original so clamps won't work on this design.

I'm with Mark. Even if it was not supplied with Jam nuts I would find some to use.

Re: tierod question (working on it now)
You definitely need jamb nuts with that style of adjusting sleeve. If you don't, vibration will move it, and you will be out of alignment.
