Re: A picture says it all!
but we are ALL at fault for the madin in china invasion.
You'll probably not be willing to pay the price for a naw american made piece, and will grumble when you open the package of the 'middle priced' part and see the same stampings. 99% of us do it... myself included. I HATE china junk, but I end up getting it and not even realizing it sometimes. I try so hard 1/2 the time when I shop, but the other half of the time I am either being cheap, being too broke, or, in too much of a hurry. |

Re: A picture says it all!
I had the outside door handle break a tab off the other day. At least these old trucks are easy and straight forward to work on.

Re: A picture says it all!
I had the knob part break off my window crank the other day. So I guess a 40 year old original part is equivalent to a brand new China part?

Re: A picture says it all!
Nah, the 40 year old part is STILL far superior. You can still roll the window down. If you could find a wooden thread spool it would be as good as new.

Re: A picture says it all!
That third picture says it all. I am one who has always cared that things be made in the USA and am willing to pay the cost. I am American labor. What can't be made overseas, they come here to do and take the jobs. I buy local from small businesses as much as possible. It wasn't hard to see the writing on the wall back in the over 30 years ago and now here we are. The thing is,now the stuff isn't so cheap, either, now that it's all but taken the place of any alternative. There's a big box store filled with lower quality products made overseas for every niche in the market. Every city has the same big box stores and all only to broaden the profit margins for the upper few while they pay diddly squat to their employees in the stores. Oh yeah, and China is getting rich off of us while we're going broke. Is that worth the little saved on these products?

Re: A picture says it all!
Well just maybe we're at a turning point, if people are fed up with this cheap crap on here then I'm sure they are on forums and towns and homes all over. And the economy going belly up has propably helped people see the light too, i.e buying cheap imported goods instead of made in America buy Americans will help?....no it didn't.

Re: A picture says it all!
Mao wrote in his little red book that they would sell us the rope that we'll hang ourselves with. Maybe it was Lenin. One of them rat ba$tard commies, anyway. At least if it's Chinese rope, it'll break when it pulls tight.

Re: A picture says it all!
I had this conversation before and was told Ace hardware carried a lot of American products and Napa carried more USA auto parts than the others, you do pay a little more but you get what you pay for. Been meaning to check it out for my self but I don't know where a Napa is in my area.

Oh yeah my door handles I rebuilt my windows a few months ago and went trough a dozen of those cheap handles before the windows broke in I put the knob on my old handle with a small bolt and washer, you can see the head of the bolt but it worked during break in.
