Rear Disc Brakes
OK I am wanting to install rear disc brakes on a 69 c10 12 bolt axle that will be going under my 66 gmc that I am doing a frame off on. I almost have the front built with disc. My question is there anyone out there that can tell me what parts I might can get from a salvage yard that will allow me to have rear disc with emergency brake or do I have to buy a kit from cpp (have read some good and bad things about these guys parts) or something along these lines. Also would it be better to just buy a later model axle with disc and swap the shock mounts around. I want to stay with a six lug wheel pattern. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Rear Disc Brakes
I just installed 6 lug disc rear brakes on the 68- just this week in fact. I bought the kit off of ebay for $349 shipped I think. It is pretty well put together, but if you have a th400 the intermediate cable is too short (but so is the stock one) . The brackets bolt on with out issue, the hoses as well all bolts are there etc. The only thing you need to buy is rear end dope, rear end gasket and axle seals (might as well you are there). The calipers look to be cadillac units with e brake provision. Isanti lawn man is his paypal addy but not sure about his ebay name- search 68 rear brakes and should pop up. hope this helps. H

Re: Rear Disc Brakes
Thanks a bunch may I asked what you did about the rear ebrake cable that is too short because I am running a TH400. Also did he offer drilled slotted rotos with his kit?

Re: Rear Disc Brakes
The ones I got are drilled and slotted. I have yet to fix the intermediate cable issue, but believe a little time with parts book will solve that problem. I will try to check Sat morning and let you know part number if interested.
