79-82 Small Block I. D.
HI: I have a Chev Small block and would like to know if it is a 305?, 327?, or a 350?. Does anyone know an easy way to tell. Any help will be appricated,

79-82 is not a 327. Visually, the dampers are different sizes on the 305 vs the 350

there is a casting number either on the driverside of the engine block just ahead of the transmission bellhousing that you can look up online, or there is also a 3 digit number cast into either side of the engine block by the motor mounts.

Get the engine code off the engine pad (right in front of the right cylinder). It will be a three letter code that will tell you everything you need to know.
