Sallisaw Swap Meet Finds

My Buddy of 30 plus years told me of some killer items at the swap..... however he did not buy them for me and waited to tell me about them until he had already left and was at home. Thanks for at least letting me know they were there, I forgive ya.

Power brake set up was asking $35.00, talked him down to 30.00
Factory radio, speaker and bracket $10.00
Trunk load of hood hinges, Cowl ends, window regulators, speedo assy, glove box door, headlights and bucket, back up assy's ... ALL for $10.00 yes ten bucks

Wow! Guess you wouldn't care if he kicked you in the boys either! Some times it's better if you just don't know!

No, I talked to him at 5:45pm last night after the meet was over. I got up this morning at 6 am and drove down there waited for the gates to open, and walked right to the stuff. ( he told me where everything was ). I was lucky!!! Yes I wish he would have just bought the stuff for me, but at least I got it bought. I am happy, didn't sleep much last night thinking about it, but that is what makes parts hunting fun I guess. It's all good

It’s interesting, up until a week ago I had never seen a booster mount like that. The one in my son’s 1960 Galaxie failed last week and I spent a bunch of time online looking up information. The lever/pivot mount mechanism and booster look nearly identical to his, except the pivot parts and oriented vertically in his application. This design was also used in Thunderbirds. These cars might provide another source for parts for anyone looking for an original style setup.

I have 3 of these setups now. I know alot of GM cars used the "swing arm" style of brackets on the booster. Two of my units are off C10 trucks and the booster bolts to the swing arm. One unit however the swing arm is riveted to the booster. This would make replacement of the booster with a reman from the parts store difficult since you only get the booster at the parts store. This riveted unit did not have the alloy "wedge " adapter on the car, it bolted directly to the firewall.

To sum it up..... A person wishing to "add" power brakes would need to find an assembly off a pickup. If you needed parts a GM car might be useful.

Re: Sallisaw Swap Meet Finds

what exactly is that wedgie thing for anyway? the booster doesn't seem to interfere with the valve cover or inner fender. why does it angle off to the left?
anybody have a clue?

just curious...

It angled to clear 292 air cleaner, IIRC.
