Who's runnin an edlebrock
So I had my truck running fine and I decide to switch out the qjet for an edelbrock. It's a 350 in a 64 c10,got rid of my old carb but now I'm trying to figure out how to use the stock pedal and linkage . The edlebrock goes the opposite direction of the q jet. How are you guys running edelbrock carbs. Am I missing something simple? Or am I just that dumb? Pix , suggestions are all welcome. I really wanna get my truck on the road asap. Thanks

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
Ive run edelbrocks on both mt 65 and 66, 65 i had a lokar pedal and it used a cable setup ,but on my 66 im running the stock pedal that goes thur the firewall with stock bar the pulls back and then used all-thread to make linkage to carb ill try and take a picture its dark out side.......ok got some pictures not the best i did it in the dark not knowing what i was looking at till after the flash took picture
stock bar that comes thur the firewall that pulls back(66 linkage might be different on other years)i hookep up some all-thread with a swivel joint: then the other side of all thread with a swivel joint to carb plate ,as you step on pedal bar pulls all-thread rod back that pulls on carb plate: And by the pictures it looks like when i opened the hood the pile of leaves that were on the hood fell into the engine comparment and in gonna have to pull leaves out my carb

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
Hey hopped up, take a look at my build thread and feel free to ask additional questions. I had to figure this out recently just like you. Don't over think it and just connect the throttle arms with some allthread. It was a lot easier to do than I thought. Take a look at your local hardware store for some specific throttle linkage hardware also.

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
heres where it hooks up to the stock firewall linkage:
i had some used swivel joints that i used ,but they do sell some at the hardware store in the nuts and bolts section by house ,where i bought my all thread, so you might want to check at your hardware store if you go this route,

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
I made mine just tget mine running, the arm sits kinda low and the all-thread is at a angle....If you look at "b2948kevin's" linkage in his build thread you see he made a bend in his linkage to make it straighter, i also thought of this just havent goto it yet my plan was to extend the stock linkage bringing the linkage level heres a crappy picture of my plan hopefully you can tell whats going on:

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
Why swap out the Quadrajet? When those things are working right, they are an awesome carburetor.

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
I`m with you, the only problem now is finding one worth rebuilding, even the swap meeter`s demand a high price for them that are trashed, they want an arm and a leg for a rebuilt thru the retailers, unless they have come down lately.

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
I just finished working the bugs out of mine. I am running an edelbrock 500 cfm
on my 283 and ran into the same problems. 62 Longbed a member of the forum sent me the long throttle pedal assy for a v-8 on my truck. I brought 2 throttle linkage bushing assembly from (Mr. Gasket), 1/4 inch rod 12" long, and a universal throttle return spring and every thing lined up perfect. Hopped up if your throttle lever inside the engine area faces up, just make it longer so you dont have to go the same trouble looking for oem pedal assy.Check out the pics.

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
Oh so you guys are now pushing on the top part of the throttle assemble onthe carb? Ah makes so much sense now! So simple! New I was just overthinking it.

Re: Who's runnin an edlebrock
Ok, when I was trying to figure out how to create this linkage, I searched high and low for good information on this. It turned out to be easier than I thought, but I am hoping that this video that I made makes it even easier for the next guy who comes along with the same question.
