1998 chevy 3500 2WD to 4WD
I have read many threads of converting to 4wd, but all are for 1/2 ton trucks, is it possible to convert a 1 ton to a 4x4 I am talking about the GMT 400 series trucks I know of the offroad unlimited solid axle conversion for 1/2 ton trucks;
http://www.offroadunlimited.com/orus...?idCategory=18 will this fit 1 tons? are there any kits like this for one tons?

This kit should work because the difference is the height of the frame rails. The easiest way is to get a 73-87 Chevy and use the axle, front springs, front hanger from the front axle, and rear hangers from the rear axle along with the tranny/transfer case. If done correctly you can use your original tranny.

If you opt for a F**d axle, it will be the same side drop as your current trans/t-case setup.

Re: 1998 chevy 3500 2WD to 4WD
good call, sorry about that one
I guess it would allow for the same year trans/t-case to be swapped in, that's the 4l60e or the 4l80e trans, right? Why go back to something like 700r or th350 if you don't have to?

I am not sure what the difference in those years frames is.
I found this. http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/new...duct.php?id=64 Give them a call and see if it'll work with your 1 ton. |
