DRW convert to SRW
Howdy All,
I have noticed quite a few of guys in here going from DRW to SRW My Alcoa rims have pretty much convinced me to keep it a DRW, but there is a couple pictures from the crew cab thread making me consider otherwise Is it as simple as buying new box panels and welding them in place (I am told the wheel well opening is bigger)? I don't want to switch boxes because A) I will never find a box this clean in my area B) I don't want to paint Yes, I realize that putting new panels in requires paint, but it saves me paint the WHOLE box, which with my OCD will lead to the entire truck, which in turn will lead me to tearing the whole truck apart... and well we all know where this is going Your advice is much appreciated, Scott

hick, if you pull the fenders off, the bed side will have an unfinished edge around the wheel well and i think its slightly larger....not sure what to do there....i was able to get a whole parts truck with a rust free bed for 550.00 so i went that route......makes me kinda sad to get rid of my dually bed though cause its in good shape ,but wont really need it

There's a huge cutout for the wheel opening with a filler. Major PITA to convert, plus expensive with all the body work that'll be needed.
Your dually bed is worth more than a good, straight replacement bed WITH new paint. Or store it so you can switch back and forth. |

I refuse to buy a box I can't see for my self So its not as simple as just buying LMC box sides, cutting out around the well and welding in the new patch? If i do switch to DRW it won't be till I do a SAS... and if I get my way when that happens i'll be doing a whole "body off" anyways so some panel patching won't be a big deal. This truck is rust free and so straight this it prob the only real body work that would need to get done
