I had actually looked at and seen the "Polarbear" before I posted my first thread, and I must say yours is looking pretty sharp. I appreciate you being open to questions and mostly I'm looking to do one thing with mods - drink less... I think we have that objective in common lol. After checking out the site you put up in your post, I think my first orders of business will be to modify the intake and exhaust systems. So far on the exhaust the original muffler has been replace by a "Purple Horny" glasspack, and contrary to belief it is pleasantly quiet. I actually snuck up on a friend who fell asleep in his car LOL. He didn't know I was there until I shut my door!... Anyhow, I think I'll try to get a high flow cat, and a better collector (y-pipe) to free up as much airflow as possible.

How much did the aftermarket throttle body help your burb?

Re: Newbie with my first Truck

Well I havent bought it yet :P. I have a throttle body spacer and injector spacer waiting to be installed. Also check out http://www.cfm-tech.com/ What are the emissions laws in MO? Here 94 and earlier have no emissions checks, so I dont have/need a cat. Also, for exhaust you can buy a $100 set of summit racing long tube headers and do a few feet of pipe and a muffler off of each header.

As for the order of doing things, looking back on the few months I've owned this thing, I should've done spark plugs first, then finished the ignition, then go to fuel/air.

Here's what I suggest for you

1. AFE or K&N Air Filter and 5W30 Oil/NAPA filter
2. Stock AC/Delco CR43TS copper spark plugs gapped at .035".
3. 8mm+ spark plug wires
4. MSD-8226 Ignition Coil
5. TBI Unit rebuild kit/TB spacer/injector spacer

That should keep you busy lol! This is just a suggestion

Re: Newbie with my first Truck

Unfortunately, the law of MO in terms of catalytic converters is, "If it was manufactured with one, it has to have one to be legal," quoted directly from a State employee.

Anyhow, several of the things you had listed as parts suggestions were things I've been looking into. I hadn't decided on any specific brands or items yet, just doing research at this point. I've have found information about throttle body and injector spacers helping with fuel economy beforehand. I also know that anything you can do to free up hp used on accessories and/or increase airflow will increase mileage. I had looked at the MSD boxes but have no idea which one to use yet, and I appreciate the spark plug information as I was wondering about that.

UPDATE: The truck is nearly ready for the road, all I have to do is get some speaker wires and an amp. kit. Turns out the rear speakers in the burb require amplification in order to work, and just so happens "big" bro gave me a set of Boss Audio subwoofers a year ago w/ amp. I also have another amp. and aftermarket radio (same brand as the one it came with) so with a little wiring I'll have a pretty good sounding system and a Burb ready for inspection.

That's one thing I actually hadn't considered doing yet... huh.
It would help out quite a bit, I've heard from a few locations that the stock exhaust on these trucks is pretty restrictive.

Re: Newbie with my first Truck

Your truck should have the older style converter and they are pretty restrictive.

Cat's are easy! if it has to be there, but doesn't matter if it works or not, use this! I did and flew right through inspection.

Mounting the mail box isn't the issue... getting the mail delivered to the Burb is
