got mo kweshuns
I got a motor recently that has a plug in the head where my temp sensor needs to go. It is not a hex plug but is square like a plug in most rearends. Unfortunately it is not 1/4 or 3/8 so I can't use my ratchets. Any suggestions on getting it out?

What size is the hole? (asuming that it's square)

see if you can find a square headed bolt that will fit in the plug. then either double nut it or use a stud remover on the bolt after placing it in the plug.

Yes those are normally 1/2". Buy,beg or borrow a 1/2 inch drive rachet or breaker bar, Make sure the rachet is as far down as it will go or else you will mangle the plug.
Those are usually pretty tight. ------------------ 1970 heavy duty C-10 fleetside sport truck. Vancouver B.C. Which head? The sensor goes on the left(driver side) head, mine's there any way. There's a plug on the right side head also, mine has a 3/8 hex head recess in it.

The recess is square and less than my 3/8 and more then my 1/4- I wish it were 1/2 got that covered. They are 305 heads on a 307 I got for free. I have the open hole on the passenger side I could use but I wanted to keep it on the correct side. Thanks

Only thing I can think of is to find a crappy old 3/8 ratchet, and start grinding!

Get one of the sockets, with the allen wrench heads, and you shouldn't have any problems.
