OMG i need help!

ok so my passenger side rear brakes were trashed to the point everything was broken and bent so i threw it all away. i got all my parts but a brake bar lever, no one list one for a 12in brake. so i was like ok i'll pull apart drivers side, use that one to fab a new one... and the po had removed it!! so i got no brake bars on either side and no one can order one. will two 13inch bars off a 87 GM 14 bolt work? does someone have a 12in drum bar they can measure so i can correctly trim my 13in bars? thank thank you!
i supplied a pic of the 13in bar in case u guys call it something diff to avoid confusion.

What about a 675-1552 Napa #. Fits 1960-1991 c10, c20, k10, k20, suburban, P series and G series vans.

OK, here are the measurements in case anyone else needs them... Don't forget the spring if you don't have it.

I just called the NAPA here in town and they have one in stock. I am going in and compare it to the one I have in my hot little hand... Stay tuned.

Pictures look the same, but I don't actually have one to compare to here at the store to see if they are exactly the same or not.

OK here's the deal. It is physically the same (maybe just a hair thicker) but there is a design change that requires a right and left hand part. The left hand is the 675-1552 part number which is $7.99 and is listed in stock, The right hand is Part number 675-1555 which is $10.99 and is listed as SPECIAL ORDER... Go figure. If you look at the picture of the 675-1552 part on the NAPA site you can see the raised place in the middle for the design change.

Re: OMG i need help!

I don't know why they said it was a "Special Order", they have them in all of the distribution centers across the U.S. Including Des Moines, IA (they have 2 there by the way) LOL. So they should be able to have one overnight or 2 days, no freight!!! My Arkansas DC And my Memphis DC each have 2 in stock!!! Lol

Yeah, I saw that too. I'm thinking that 1555 is still the old style part that will fit either side, and they just haven't changed the web site info since the new style 1552 came out. Either way they need to update the web site....

Re: OMG i need help!

funny i just measured my 13in levers their the same overall length but their 6-11/16 so 1/16 longer would that 1/16 make a diff? can i just shave it off? as an option of course.
ok now im confused so i ran the part numbers you guys have on the web site they list as a 13in part, does that mean the 12in and 13inch are the same? or did i miss something?
Brake Bar
Part Number: BK 6751552

Re: OMG i need help!

I'm really curious about this too.

Since in my case with my 12" brake drums, I was missing the adjuster arms inside the drums. Comparing them to 11" drum adjusters, they are much longer and in no way would work. I ended up getting what I needed out of a corp 14 bolt axle, at least I am pretty sure that's where the guy told me he found them from.

So, I am wondering if 14 bolt corp axle drum parts are similar enough to cross reference to a 12" drum from a old 68 K20 set up?

My interest perked up on this post, because I just happened to compare the part the OP needed to some I have from 11" drums to the ones in my 12" drum and they are identical. They are working fine too, but when I purchased 12" bars from Napa they are the same as the 11" drum ones I have. This part has always made me wonder if what I have is right? Since there seems to be confusion in the parts books, not only from Napa but also from LMC and a couple other vendors I have checked.

I found the ones at NAPA by searching a couple of different ways. On one screen it listed one of them as being 11.5 inches so there are errors on their site.

Yes their site is kind of screwy on descriptions, but I also have the book here and it says it will fit 11-15" brakes.

I just have to say thank you very much for this thread. I have spent way too much time at napa not finding the brake bar spring part #. Now maybe I can get my brakes finished next week.

I got mine through CarQuest. They had everything I needed, but they did have to order in that brake bar spring.
