Ok hope you guys can follow me..kinda confusing and new one to me.
I just got a 68 c10...it had 16" newer chevy truck rims on it..and huge tires... So i dont really like them and i bought 4 new rally 15" 6 lug chevy rims. I go to put them on and notice a problem. The newer chevy rims have metric studs which are a bit bigger in diamter than the originals...sure enough my new rallys go one but the studs are too big... Ok the p/o drilled the front hubs to accept these bigger dia. metric studs..so now i have the right studs and they just fall out the holes ..Im guessing i need two front hubs for my truck...If anyone has 2 or knows where I can buy them please let me know.. Ok for the rear..I thought the p/o probably drilled out the axles (praying he didnt)..Took off rear tires and he used really nice adapters that screwed onto the drums using the original lug studs and has the metric ones for the newer rims on them. Great I just took off the wheel adapters and bingo the 6 correct suds were there for me to mount 2 of my 4 rallys ![]() If anyone needs these adapters let me know.better yet if someone has 2 good hubs for me..i'll trade these adapters for them.. Hoping you guys can help me as I've looked all over my town and called around and no parts stores have the hubs...Thx. |

Re: long sad story (wheel related)
If you have 6-lug front drums I'll trade you my 6 lug front hubs for your front hubs and rear spacers.
pm me. Dano I'm in Ontario

Re: long sad story (wheel related)
OK, Does anyone have any issues with running 6-to-5-lug adapters? I have a 68 and can't find a reasonable 5-lug axle to save my life. Obviously there are 3 of you that don't have a problem running adapters. Any brand of adapter better than others?

Re: long sad story (wheel related)
Have you checked CPP or ECE? I know they make conversion axles for 71-71 rears. 5 lug axles were not available from the factory for the narrower 67-70 rear end.

There is 1 hole in each pattern that overlap. I've seen some very scary 2-piece adapters that go from the 6-lug truck pattern to a 5x4.5 ford car pattern. I wouldn't run them on a bet.

Multiple manufacturers offer direct-swap conversion axles for your 68 12-bolt that allow you to have the 5x5 GM truck pattern. New axles are stronger than OE, have zero wear vs 43yr old axles, & are a fairly easy swap.
