Finally off the jack stands with photos
My truck finally came off the jack stands last night. After 7 weeks and several delays, I am nearing the end of my lowering project. Drop spindles with discs on the front, 3" drop on the rear. Biggest delay was because of the brake calipers, the bleeder holes had machine tool marks from a bad cutter. It took 9 days to get another set shipped from California.
Next stop is the alignment shop, then to the muffler shop for new exhaust system. PO had routed the tailpipes between the differential and the frame. Right now she's real loud, I torched the pipes at the back of the glass packs at the rear of the cab. Will get pics this weekend, if the weather cooperates. Go to my webshot album for photos. http://community.webshots.com/user/sf3768

Now that you have done all this work to your truck, it will be mandatory that you join the rest of us at the Ark City show on Sept. 27th so we can see it in person. If you talk to any of the others up your way, let them know if you would. Gonna be a bunch of board members there the way it is looking, and hopefully we'll get together around 2 pm Sat. the 27th. It's going to be tough to park together unless we all get there very early Sat. morning. Hope you can make it.

Cool, will look forward to seeing your project one of these days. Have you talked to Tony about the 65 he is working on?

Barn9, I'll have to see about Ark City. Problem is that if I go Saturday, I'll have to leave that afternoon, and that place is horrible to got out of.
Yukon Jack, I've only seen Tony in passing. I think he must be working in another area most of the time. I'll have to get someone to tell me when he's in his office. Drove her around the neighborhood last night to get the springs to seat. Coulldn't hear much but the exhaust, but when I rounded one corner I could really hear the tires scrubbing. With all the new parts, I probably could have take half the shims out of the upper control arms. Hopefully we'll get some sun this weekend and I can get some shots. It's so nice to have some rain, it's been a long hot summer.

Where did you get the drop spindles from and what year brakes did you use. I am currently in the process of finding drop spindles and not sure wich ones to use.
I have a 69 fleetside LWB. I am going discs up front also.

I got mine through Bowtie Bits, but he had to special order them. GMCPauls and Chevy Duty both sell the same parts. I can't recall the manufacturer, but they are quality, made in the USA parts.

Fred, it's easy to get out of there, you just need to know how, hehee! Seriously, the show location puts you within 4 city blocks of US 166, and with a few blocks more you are at highway speed. Now if you come in or leave on 77, then yes, it can be slow when there are 1000 or more show vehichles doing the evening cruise up and down the main avenue (which is also Hwy 77). Ya just gotta know the way man, and we can get you on the road in a jiffy! If you get the chance though, e-mail or write Tumbleweeds Car Club and ask them why they don't move the show to the fairgrounds where we have the Winfield show, much more room and much better facilities. They're thinking about it, they just need to hear it from other people. It's a great car show, but they have about outgrown the area/facility that they have in Ark City. I know you are familiar with the Winfield show, and we only use 1 building and less than 10% of the fairgrounds for our show, which has (in it's infancy) 200 entries. It's kind of like politics, everyone needs to voice their opinion. Of course, also like politics, that doesn't mean they will listen, LOL!
