Not 100% sure, but I don't think it's factory. Looks like somebody put that on for some reason. Maybe to lock the tailgate.

Ha ha. Yea, I thought it was in the back. Spare tire mount seems like it. Some fellas on here have the spare tire on the step sides. They will help ya.
Yea, I want wider on the back, but I have to narrow the nine and do more cutting and welding. Just going to leave her like it is now.

Thanks Bud,

Re: truck bed question

I have the spare tire mounted on the driver side fender, and do not have any of the mounts shown. The spare tire carrier mounts to the bed side, top of the rail and through the fender. There is also a small mount that mounts between the top of the fender and the bottom of the rail. Im not sure what the mount in the above picture is, but not for the spare tire mount. Is your truck a short bed or long? I will try and get a better pic of the spare tire mount. You can see under the tire the carrier's left mount which is half way between the fender and the back of the cab.

Yes it is factory my bed had it. There is 2 or 3 other support brackets to support the spare tire as well. If your not using the spare tire fender you don't need it. Another thing to look at on stepside beds that had the spare tire fender is the out side bed rails the ones that are atached to bed sides will have (3) extra carriage bolts holes in the front part of the rails. There is alot of ertra holes to weld up because of the spare tire fender take your time and look.

Re: truck bed question

I had to do the spare tire conversion on mine, that mount wasnt on the donar truck that I used. Niterider65, if you decide to remove the bracket let me know.
