How to remove truck bed correctly??

Hey all, I'm in the process of replacing the bed that is on my truck right now. I have never completed this action before and I was hoping some of you could get me started so I can do this the right way without screwing anything up to bad. The gas tank is behind the seat, and all wiring to lights work. Is the process of it as easy as taking apart the bed mounts, or is their more. I'd appreciate all feedback, Thanks!

It's as easy as that. Just remove the bolts holding the bed down to the frame, disconnect the wiring connector at the rear cross member, then lift. At least that's how I did it

You may want to get a couple or four buddies to help you with the lift part!

Haha good point! I'm thinking about just doing it the easy way and using an over head lift, ans the only work necessary is to crank the lift lol

I'm just hoping by making the lifting part easy that doesn't make something that could be done easy harder lol

Re: How to remove truck bed correctly??

Do you have an engine lift? Might be able to rig a way to lift it with that. I've done it by myself using saw horses and 2X6 boards. Placed the saw horsed behind the truck, lifted the bed slightly to slide the boards under and then slid the bed backwards.

I've also used my two 250 pound football playing nephews and last time I did it I used my tractor with a boom pole. Four able bodied buddies can lift it as mentioned above -if they're easily available.

Re: How to remove truck bed correctly??

I have all of the above available, I think the most convient way will be to simply drive the truck under the lift then lift the bed and drive out from underneath it. Thanks for the great ideas though!

There maybe be a ground strap between the bed and frame also.
