Thought I'd share a photo

My mother sent me this picture. Apparently, it's in Cuba.

It's a shame that you "fixed it". The black screen had a link at the top. The link let me get into your shared Flickr page. The page had pictures of a mess of really cool vehicles in Cuba!

Re: Thought I'd share a photo

that is very cool. thanks for sharing. i went thru all of them.

you should start posting a couple of pics of cuban cars every day, this would be a good thread.
i've read that private car ownership is forbidden in cuba, maybe that is why most of the old cars had taxi in the window.
lots of 40s and 50 steel in his pics. i guess not much was imported after fidel took over.

Re: Thought I'd share a photo

A lumber mill that my dad drove log trucks for in the late 50s had or3 of them they called them crummys. They were used to take the woods crews to work. Mort of the employees that worked for CAL_IDA lumber company lived at the mill the single guys lived in the barracks the married lived in small cabins.

Haven't heard crummy in that context for a long time. A lot of the men in my neighborhood, including by Dad for a while after WWII, logged. When we were cleaning out his stuff found his original chainsaw. Imaige lugging a lawn mower engine attached to a 42" blade up and down hills all day. It must have weighed 80 pounds. When I told him he said, "oh don't forget you were in rain gear and also carried a couple of gallons of gas too". Tough men.

Re: Thought I'd share a photo

I was in cuba for 20 days of cycling in November and seen lots of interesting cars but very few trucks. Seems that the pickup, due to its limited people moving capacity, is not as popular. Here are some I did find.

This is the main highway, Autopista, through Cuba.
