interior ideas, floor

so the I have a 72, auto... getting ready to pull the seat and install the amps and subs under it..... the floor is clean, not rust (california truck all its life) and bare right now... the factory blue is supper clean. I was thinking of either dura lining the floor and then putting mats in or I was going to put some sound barrier down and do carpet..... so I am looking for ideas... post pic and iideas please let me know what you think...... such as carpet kits vs. cutting my own, or dura liner and mats, ect.... if you cut your own carpet I would like to see those too

Re: interior ideas, floor

I would go with a carpet set from one of the vendors. They are molded to fit the contours of the floor and would look better than cutting your own. The price of the molded carpet set would more than offset the hassle and frustration of trying to cut a piece of flat carpet and make it look decent, in my opinion. The vendors also sell factory underlayment or aftermarket dyna-mat kits also. Joseph

Re: interior ideas, floor

I would put down dynamat type material (I like raammat from raamaudio.com but there are LOTS around these days) then a thin layer of insulation like a closed cell foam on top of that then a pre-cut carpet kit. Put the mat every place you can including inner and outer door skins. I did that to my Camaro and it made the car a lot quieter solid sounding and stopped all the old car noises and I can enjoy my stereo.

I see no benefit from using duraliner type product inside. I like to use Mastercoat,Dynamat, and molded carpet.

Before you do anything related to sound deadening, it would probably worth your time to look at this:
