Any options on upgrading wiper motors?

My wiper motor finally died today, in a blizzard 10 miles from home-of course. I have a couple others-pending bench-testing to see if they work-but are there any other options for a better set-up than stock? It always seems like the stock motors are too slow. Maybe because they are 40+ years old, but still. Just wondering.

These guys have been making wiper motors for just about everything, for a long time.

What cdowns said clean and lube all the linkage and clean the glass real good does wonders for wiper operation

There are a couple of aftermarket systems I've seen here on the site. One of the nicer systems was in a Kevin Lewis' (RokCrln) Low Buck Truck build. Here's the thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=223158 But, you'll need to scan through it to see the specific information for the wipers (it's 50 pages on my computer).

cleaned my window and waxed the glass, lubed the linkage and wow, it was 3 times smoother and 2 times faster... works wonderful know...

Exactly what is the advantage of using an aftermarket wiper motor over the original? I never knew anything was wrong with mine. They do what wipers do. I rarely use hi at all. I have never had a wiper motor fail on me. Now,washers? That's another story...about the opposite.They never work in any of my trucks. The only improvement I'd want is intermittent wipers.

does this motor have a washer pump attached or do you have to use a aux unit?

Maintain (clean/lube) your stock system. Then go to Wal*Mart or similar and buy a bottle of RainX. I put it on EVERY car I own. It works so good you can drive in rain or snow without wipers as it beads the stuff up and sends it sailing.

It also is nice for scraping ice off your windows like I will be doing this afternoon. The coating or whatever it does to your glass makes a surface that the ice doesn't stick real well to.
