What's the best oil for the engines first 500 miles ?

Just regular 10W30 works great. A straight 30 weight will work too, if you can still find the stuff. Use a good grade of the same maker you plan to run from now on. Don't use synthetic to break it in. It's too slick, IMO. I know, I know, new Vettes come with synthetic, but I believe they are already broken in before the dealer gets them. Just make sure at first start, after breaking in the cam, to change the oil and filter. Drive it the 500 miles and change it all again.

I used and still use Havoline 10W40.

I love Delo400 that you can get at Wal-Mart. It's made by Chevron and ade for diesels. It actually is great for gas as well. I've used it for almost a year now with regular 3 month changes and holds up alot better than Castrol GTX.
