Re: cool read on the hamb..
If I had more vacation time I would do a road trip like that.

Re: cool read on the hamb..
That was an awesome story. like many people said on the hamb, very few people can say that they did that. i drove my 63 chevy from forest city NC to pigeon forge TN for the rod run. everyone thought i was crazy. made it up there and back without a problem.

Re: cool read on the hamb..
Very cool. I did a trip similar to that. I was at Vandenberg AFB in cali (near Santa Barbra) for training and bought a 67 chevelle malibu. My dad flew out and we drove the chevelle back to Cleveland Ohio, took us 4 days and wasn’t nearly as eventful as his trip. However we stopped for gas in the middle of kanas off of I-70. It was one of those places that was just a gas station surrounded by corn fields. So we filled up, jumped in the car and it wouldn't start. Of course it’s Sunday and no parts stores for miles. So I climbed under the car dropped the starter and filled it with wd-40 and beat it with a hammer. It must of been just gummed up because it started to spin so i put it back on and fired up. Didn't have a problem with it ever again. I know for a fact my old man my never doubted his 19yo son again. I will never forget that trip.

Re: cool read on the hamb..
That was a great story!! Thanks for the post. I read that thinking about my nervousness about driving my truck down to Louisiana to visit my parents for the holidays. Now, I am just gonna throw my 63 short stepper in the wind and pin the ears back!!

Re: cool read on the hamb..
Sounds like something i would do, sounds like it would be a blast. I know so many people that think just cause my truck is actually made of metal and has a carburetor it shouldnt be driven far.
